Golfbaan: Poggio dei Medici

Opened in 1992, with 18 holes, par 73, and a championship course with a length of 6,476 meters, the course of the UNA Poggio dei Medici Golf Club is one of the most prestigious in Italy.

Designed by architect Alvise Rossi Fioravanti and player Baldovino Dassù according to USGA standards, Poggio dei Medici was recognized as 'Best New Field' at the opening. It was recently awarded by 'Condè Nast Traveler' in its 'Hot List' as 'The Best Golf Club', surpassing courses such as the K Club in Ireland and the Greenbrier in the United States.

The route, nestled in the Mugello Valley, protected by the Apennines, offers 5 different tee-starting points for an exciting competition for all levels.
The field has a large practice area, with Pitching and Putting Green, bunkers, 6 covered and 24 discoveries, with PGA teacher available for individual and group lessons. Golf carts, handcarts and bags for rent, caddies on request. The camp is open daily throughout the year.

From 1999 to 2003 Poggio dei Medici organized the Italian ladies Open of the European Tour; the winners in this area were: Samantha Head, United Kingdom, in 1999; Sophie Gustafson, Sweden, in 2000; Paula Marti, Spain, in 2001; Iben Tinning, Denmark, in 2002; Ludivine Kreutz, France, in 2003.
